A 9x12 envelope

sifting through the rubble

My love for you fit in a 9x12 envelope.
Every breakup
You held them,
For ransom
And gave them back
When you deemed fit.
On the outside of the envelope,
Another empty promise
"I will never do this to you again"
it said.
Of course you did.
I marked it LIAR
And threw it in with the rest
Of your precious things.
I hope you burned it,
Like you said.

Thank you, yes. I held on to a lot of things, thinking the good memories outweighed the bad. When the weight of that envelope was too much to bear, I gave it back.

Yes, thanks. Not all them are rearranged yet, but most are. I just have to always remember to shuffle the deck when I add new poems. Could they make it much less inconvenient to organise? Sheesh!

love this...get the theme...the empty promises---and then they don't put enough postage on the envelope and we get stuck paying the extra heartbreak...

WHOA KL!!! well, blowing things up and letting them burn is definitely one way to purge demons or any other forms of 2 legged rats... short, sweet explosive!!! and as you may have already guessed, I love it!!!

Well, the poems of which I speak are long gone, never posted here at all -- I ran across a poem in organizing that was the time he decided (again) to burn all our romantic poetry we gave each other over the years. When he left, I did exactly what I said I did in this poem.

wow, what he did is just so cruel, and so wrong... what an a*s... and in my above comment I was referring to you and how you handled things not to his burning of things... hope you understand this... it is a shame that that saying about liar liar pants on fire isn't true... ;0)
