Angels

Angels

A Poem by light and ashes

I wish that I could stand upon Time, like the Angels do, to be so lofty and full of light.
I envy their wings. I envy their peace.
I envy their time with God.

Though I don’t believe in any God, I understand what envy is like…. And it can be very frustrating at times…you desire to be someone else or to be in another more comforting place …. It’s a wish that we all have at some time or another…or we envy certain people for various reasons….
Short and to the point

Thank you, mam.
Such a poignant thought about time and angels. What an enigma time is, yet one day it will cease. We have some consolation in the irony that angels do actually envy us. Brilliant writing!

When you are in a bad place it is natural to be envious of those who are not living in darkness. In those moments we all wish we had wings to fly towards the light and a state of peace. I wish that contentment for you my friend with all sincerity.

Everyone's flight is different. Imagined in ways that can't be replicated and it's important to enjoy that. Well done.

thank you.
A beautiful spiritual poem. I find we as human beings often identify flight and wings with something greater than ourselves. A greater heavenly unreachable love. I was working on a poem I called "I wish I had your wings ". And it was about the yearning to love beyond the self. It's been a struggle to complete it because it requires a knowledge of something we may never experience while living. We know innately that we are capable of a greater love but the fallibilities of our own nature tend to make us fall short towards such lofty goals. Because one defining quality of love is it requires sacrifice; to be selfless unconditionally. But there is a part of us we can't deny which is our yearning to be loved in return and equally. So we try to reach those heights in anticipation of something greater waiting for us not realizing the sacrifice is that we should never expect anything in return for simply loving. It is in that action and belief we gain wings unseen and earned. CLE
