If You Were a Song

If You Were a Song

A Poem by Annabelle

If you were a song
I would play you as I was falling asleep,
so that you could lay with me,
and we could forget our troubles,
and we would think as one.
And as we lay there,
your hands would dance up my legs,
and find comfort in the small of my back.
Playing my body like a symphony.
Striking all the right cords.
I would listen to you note by note,
and melody by melody,
listening to the things you had to say.
I would write down your words absentmindedly,
because your turn would always be at the front of my mind.
I would show you to my friends,
but know that you would always be mine.
And that it would be impossible for them to appreciate the beauty in your
words, notes and soul,
as I ever could.

I really like the way you've phrased your themes. This is a lovely tribute to a lover.

A amazing use of words. You gave the word "song" more meanings and reasons.
"Playing my body like a symphony.
Striking all the right cords"
You made the words dance and sing for the reader. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
