8: We Are {Tell Me The MEaning}

A Chapter by Apathy To Empathy

We Are {Tell Me The Meaning}

Extend your arms to me,

Embrace me,

And tell me the meaning

Of this hug.

We are new.

Lean your face down,

Let your lips gently touch mine,

And tell me the meaning

Of this kiss.

We are together.

take hold of my hands

As you kneel down

And tell me the meaning

Of this proposal.

We are engaged.

talk to me gently

As the pangs ease through

And tell me the meaning

Of this childbirth.

We are parents.

Extend a wave

To your lush hair

And tell me the meaning

Of this gray headed-ness.

We are old.

Lay in your grave

Beside mine

And tell me the meaning

Of this death.

We are together.

As a crack

Creeps up the tombstone,

Tell me the meaning

Of this dust.

We are in love.

We still are.

Even in death.
