Life

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Life is not a race to be won.

"

                                                     Tatertot

I wonder where the songs come from

watching children skip all 'round

Playing like time had no meaning

as snow fell upon the ground

Man's last words are never of work

nor to rule the entire world

They wish they'd spent time with others

as enlightenment's unfurled

When you rush along through your day

throwing out gifts un-opened

The dreams your parents had for you

the ones that go unspoken

Take time out of your stressful day

and try not to dance so fast

Life is not a race to be won

sadly the music won't last

The chance to dance upon this world is granted to us but once. Don't live the last half in regrets of lost moments from the first.

This is what I was looking for... Its so inspiring!!! Beautiful thoughts and beautiful words Tate... You always come up with something that's so overwhelming... There's so much to learn from you!
Time just slips through our hands and life just passes by when we are so busy planning...
Gifts un-opened, dreams unspoken... these are wonderful expressions!
Thanks for sharing! :)

And you have beautiful kids!!! :)))

Here's a poem everyone can like - I do, for one. Great thought and some very nice images, like rain slapping the ground and a butterfly's path. The closing stnaza is especially strong. Check on the missing apostrophe in line 9: man's. Good writing.

Ah, very lovely. :] This was, calming in a way. I can't describe it, but it makes me realize how precious life is. It's good to know that there are others out there who share my feelings about life in general. Life is short, in all honesty. But it isn't that fact that should make life seem pointless, it's what makes life so brilliant. I pity those who feel like, since there is no true "meaning" of life, then it is worthless, and throw their lives away. But we only have this one chance, this one incredibly short time here, and even if there isn't a real "meaning" all together, people need to realize that we create our own meanings. Thanks for sharing :] Beautiful kids. oh, one thing. I find the fonts you use are difficult to read. Too busy, or I don't know really...but that's my only suggestion.

Wow man this is a great piece! First off let me say you are very lucky to have such beautiful children. This piece is wonderful in the fact that it tells the story of how fast children grow. Time goes by too quick and sometimes I feel that we get so caught up in the world we forget the little ones, thinking we have all the time in the world, and before we know it they are grown. What a great tribute to your children.

Your poem sums up all the things I love about country life .. having the time to just stop and look at the world and see it new and fresh, just like children do. Children look at rain and want to jump in puddles, they want to run on grass with signs that say 'Keep off' - what do boring old grown-up do .. they watch the clock, they're always on the go ( and yes, they need to be, but .. )

Sorry, went on a bit then .. your poem just rings the bell for me .. it's lovely and holds a great philosophy .. and the photographs are just wonderful - what lovely children!
