Life

Life

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Life is not a race to be won.

"

                                                     Tatertot

I wonder where the songs come from

watching children skip all 'round

Playing like time had no meaning

as snow fell upon the ground

Man's last words are never of work

nor to rule the entire world

They wish they'd spent time with others

as enlightenment's unfurled

When you rush along through your day

throwing out gifts un-opened

The dreams your parents had for you

the ones that go unspoken

Take time out of your stressful day

and try not to dance so fast

Life is not a race to be won

sadly the music won't last

The chance to dance upon this world is granted to us but once. Don't live the last half in regrets of lost moments from the first.

This is what I was looking for... Its so inspiring!!! Beautiful thoughts and beautiful words Tate... You always come up with something that's so overwhelming... There's so much to learn from you!
Time just slips through our hands and life just passes by when we are so busy planning...
Gifts un-opened, dreams unspoken... these are wonderful expressions!
Thanks for sharing! :)

And you have beautiful kids!!! :)))

A very emotional, wise and profound poem. This one is really fantastic and impressive.
I agree with what you wrote here. I think we forget the real important things
as we rush through life. Too bad the world won't let us slow down more often.

What an excellent write, Tate. By the time we come to appreciate childhood it is over. I especially love this stanza:

"No mans last words were are of work
Nor to rule the entire world
They wish to have given time to others
As enlightenment is then unfurled"

So very true.

here is where i stopped to read many times again and again..
surely my last words will not be of work..who cares to rule over others
i have given all my time to many..i even spared so little for me
i ve lost so many chances..but never missed any call from others
i ve no regrets whatsoever..i ve given lots and lots..and so happy that i did
i always hear inner music playing ..just for me..wish all could hear it,wish all would dream it,with me..
very dreamy..how it suits me..all these words
lovely write..

This is absolutely splendid. I live in the US and we seriously take work to extremely levels here. We have to any more to make it. Our cost of living is based on two incomes and it is hard. I am a firm believer that life is about moments that we live and memories that we carry till the end. I am lucky I have a job I love but I don't make much money and being a single mom I live with my mom right now. I have new job plans in the works. This poems is lovely and the photos are great.
