Pity The Heartless

Pity The Heartless

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Pity the heartless.

"

Pity the heartless

wish on them well

Follow not their teachings

for them time will tell

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
There was a time when my heart was cold as ice. Long before I remarried and had recovered my life. But I found bitterness too hard a hard pill to swallow. Thankfully time marched on and the better angel of my nature took control of my heart leading me to happiness again. When I first wrote this poem I was so deeply distressed. That day I decided to make of my life something new. Tonight while thinking on those days I went through my thousands of pictures and gave my exwife those that I thought she should have. A peace offering I suppose. Though after a few drinks I have to admit the song from Iris Dement had me laughin so hard. That because it is not human nature to let go pain and grant forgiveness. However I shall try not to dwell on past misery. I am trying very hard to let go the hard thoughts and swim in the river of forgiveness and grace. To those few people whom I loved and who dared to love me.
Thank you!

By the way just imagine the genders are reversed in the song above.

True honesty, really.
I'm really hope you're much happier now =D

Yup, without love your world seems empty; without purpose.

Wonderful poem, wonderful expression.

"While night is asleep, sunshine will be mine" - what a beautiful line.

Enjoyed reading it and good luck for the future.
Hope you get even happier =D

Thank you so much Mr. Morgan for writing this and then for sharing it! It gives me hope, as I've just experienced something awful. I have been reassuring myself of this, but its hard sometimes, it was nice to read it from someone else. I look forward to the future even more. Love is a wonderful feeling.

They say with age you achieve wisdom. I sure as s**t hope so cause I'm kind of counting on that. Thanks for the poem Mr Morgan. Candy colored clown threw me off a bit cause of the David Lynch film "Blue Velvet." Dennis Hopper plays a Psychopathic Criminal Whack job type who in one scene does a lip synch to the song "Candy Colored Clown" while he's standing on a hood of a car singing into an extention cord lamp. That was one fucked up movie.

Come on over i popped the cork on a bottle of rum!
Forgiveness is first for the one that is doing the forgiving. We must release that bitter pill if we want to move on and release the hurt and pain. Forgiving the other is an extension of that act of grace, that allows healing and peace. Funny how you just posted this tonight and I changed my "status" here with a quote on forgiveness... Loving still, forgiving always, open heart...
Wonderful writing, Tate.

Forgiveness in all its forms is a good thing .If nothing else it makes the demons turn us loose
It's really nice, you did a great job. Forgiveness is a hard thing to do but to forgive is something good and giving another chance. Keep writing.

Forgiveness is such a hard thing in reality.. as it is combined with memory, pain and the complete inability to forget sometimes... as hard as we may! Yet we must find it to move on.. your last stanza is prolific..you must move on.. it is human to have wants, needs, desires and love again! Sounds like you are well on your way to healing inside.. or if this is just creative prose..well you certainly fooled me!!! I love your depth.. don't ever stop writing!
