Knowledge

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Don't fear the ones with their own ways For they may know what we do not

We come into life as innocents

no prejudice upon our soul

Washed clean by a new beginning

not a single debt, nor a toll

We have two choices most of us

codes of fathers we just swallow

Or blaze a path in loneliness

others wonder but don't follow

It is that rare one we may find

who chooses to go his own way

These are the ones we all admire

not for them but us we should pray

Fearless souls unafraid to die

they the ones bucking convention

Who teach us all our life's follies

by adding a new dimension

As life progresses onward

to it's predestined conclusion

We learn then teach the least of us

to see truth not the delusion

Don't fear the ones with their own ways

for they may know what we do not

He who turns toward forgiveness

has discovered what most forgot

I like this poem a great deal. It gives a universal feel to the fundamental aspects of human nurture versus nature while also being a valid expression and advocation of acceptance. There is much appreciation of diversity in these lines and a concise summary of the choice every human faces between conformity and freedom of spirit...the second stanza gives vigour to this philospohy and there is a sense of buddhist type karma/rebirth throughout this piece.
Being a virtually existentialist in my world view I would probably take issue with the second last stanza's determinist quality, but generally speaking I think this poem resounds with undeniable truth and shows the reader how our thoughts, ideas and actions interconnect as we evolve toward an ever increasing awareness and collective knowledge. There's a sort of a parrallel to Jungian dream philosophy/collective consciousness going on that makes a lot of sense to me.
I really enjoyed this read, take care, spence

We become wiser with age. You are correct. Forgiveness is necessary for us to move on and enjoy our life. A excellent poem with wisdom.

Very beautifully put. I've always seen myself as the kind to go my own way, even if its less than conventional and too few people understand or embrace that kind of person. We could all be better people by being open minded to new ideas and new perspectives.

Yes the path of life is full of difficult circumstances and choices which invariably can make or shape our lives,in all honesty the easiest decisions are to follow his holy one and seek a life of absolute devotion,in the end we are born in lust and then turn to dust or are a maggots feast.

I have found that knowledge comes at the most opportune times. Like a little bird on the window sill, it just lights when we most need it.

I must agree that it is the few who dare to be individuals who raise the bar of knowledge for the rest. But recognise that for every leader there are many who just follow.

You always make me think deeply when you write something.

Knowlege is the key to everything. Your knowlege and wisdom really hits me full force as I read this. When you think of everyone before us, who were so full of curiosity, and strong minds, it really makes you think...how could I change the world?

I adore this. Amazing write.
