Scream and Shout

Scream and Shout

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Sad to see the love of ones life walk down the Isle without you.

"

The heart never sleeps like the mind

forever twists and turns

When the mind has had enough

the heart of love still burns

The mind tells the heart to tether

it's hopes upon a string

Always thinking it knows better

to make life's chorus sing

These two dance through life together

two parts of just one soul

Each searching to love another

chasing a different goal

Many a man followed his mind

to turn love asunder

But he never knows beauty's bliss

 of love he will wonder

The mind is not the final judge

of what life is about

Best to not die of a whimper

but live to scream and shout

Sad as it is to have a broken heart, one can't but think how joyous the heart that gets back up screams to the fates" Is that the best you got?"

well done Tate ... top notch rhyme rhythm and story telling says i! its an old and well worn debate which comes first ... the feeling or the thought .. the chicken or the egg ;) personally i don't think we can "feel" without first the thoughts ... just try "feeling" something without thinking first ;) but i hear the message in this loud and clear ... its the surrender to passions that breaths all the colors and fiery turmoil into ones life ...all the heartache one has is well worth the experience of strong emotional love and desire ... a great addition to your poetry here at the Cafe' ... always a treat to see you have posted anew!

I dig the accompanying image.

The poem speaks to the challenge of whole-psyche integration. The mystic Gurdjieff used to say "Feel what you think; think what you feel." Heart-Mind are inherently One, but we have to develop the psychic muscles or radical grace to see that.

The closing tone is reminiscent of Dylan Thomas's "Do not go gentle into that good night/rage rage against the dying of the night."

Or, "Shake it up baby, Twist and Shout!" ;-)

Humans are habituated to living at effect. Intuition and individuation work to be at cause, whereby radical simplicity, seamless being reveals itself.
