Fate

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

For when could I say that i believed I was such a treasured soul

"

Lucy

Lucy Hamilton

 Princess of Ireland

When could I say that I believed

I was such a treasured soul

To give up the life you've conceived

for a chance at half not whole

Having tasted the nectar of life

who can say they would pass it on

For years full of trouble and strife

filled with all of what was, now gone

Life wasn't meant to cost so much

that you pay for your love in tears

I couldn't bear it to be such

that I cost you unhappy years

Many a night I looked up in awe

to the sweet sky above my head

Longing to be that star you saw

to hear the wistful things you said

So now I lie in wait for dawn

watching the stars all twinkle out

Dreaming of things that were, now gone

we never thought we’d live without

This was beautiful. Very emotional and the meaning just bursting through it.

The Shadow On My Shoulder
There is an angel who sits upon my shoulder who goes by the name of Death...
Nothing to say in rapture as I happen to know the cause behind this .

Wistful, gentle, longing; a beautiful piece of writing; you have written an incredible poem. Oh, I am running out of adjectives; but you did good, Tate. Besides, I need to locate my handkerchief!

I need tissues...

"Many a night I looked up in awe
to the sweet sky above my head
Longing to be that star you saw
to hear the wistful things you said"

This stanza tore at my heart. Not to mention your choice of song, a beautiful classic that set the feel for this piece and in the end came close to finishing me off. Masterfully done, Tate. Simply stunning.

deeply touching work. How often have we as humans looked up to the stars and wonder if our distant family, friends, lovers were seeing the same stars at the very same moment.

Very honest work, with thoughts deep from the heart. Another well written work.

Fabulous verse...and accompanying tune!!! I've never known a reality better than my imagination. I would just love to find one that matches:) I have loved beyond my wildest dreams and perhaps that's as close as I will ever come. Sigh...I'll take that any day! The verse is filled with love, longing and purpose. Beautiful words and a wonderful write!
