The Long and Winding Road

The Long and Winding Road

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

Emotion so bare and open fearing no more of the night Said come back again and again stay with me till morning light

"

Rebecca

Oh so fragrant the air was tasted

when first our souls did meet

Wafting on to the fading night

spoke of smells so ever sweet

Emotions so bare and open

fearing no more of the night

Say come back again and again

stay with me till morning light

Thirst overpowers my senses

with promises of love each day

Saying to drink of your fountain

swearing you'll show me the way

So short the time we have to be

oh what shall I do with mine

Give of my heart to another

or simply drink of the wine

I'll trust in you my happiness

life seldom gives but just one turn

while knowing so well the danger

I still wish to live, love and learn

Tate

Sometimes love is in the first sight! This was written for Rebecca. Seldom do the paths of dreams and reality meet .Rebecca is one of those.

first this song is one of my favorite...it is so beautiful, just like your poem...your piece is filled with meaning and romance. You penned this with the utter most beauty...amazingly done...

I think it is only in the movies that you find true love at first sight. I don't think it happens in life. But with that said one can hope right. Another great poem by Tate. To look at someone & know is what i think everyone wants, not everyone gets.

Love this, and the picture is so close to what I have in mind for my lead character in Coffee Girl, it is uncanny. Excellent portrayal fo lvoe at first sight.

There's a certain shade of philosophy in the whole poem. Romantic poems don't go well with Philosophy. But well, I guess there are some; or it's just the Tate style! Whatever, you never fail to bring some memories whenever I read your poem.

My favorite:

So short the time we have to be
oh what shall I do with mine
Give of my heart to another
or simply drink of the wine

Keep writing.

this is so beautiful!
and i love that you posted that song to go with it btw. i am a huge fan of nat and natalie cole!
I was very impressed with this one! sometime when people send me read request and the poem is pretty long i lose interesting or just plane get bored halfway through. but the one totally kept my attention all the way through! i loved reading it honestly! so romantic and heartfelt! i have written so many pieces about heartbreak and sadness but i have always marveled at how the most heartbroken people will always give love a second chance when someone new comes along. thats why i loved the last line of this poem
"while knowing so well the danger
I still wish to live, love and learn"

gorgeous poem! please send me read requests when you write more!

Beautiful words and description. Photo made words come alive. Last line need to be the desire for all people. A outstanding poem of love. Thank you.
