Thoughts

A Poem by Tate Morgan
"

We look back to our childhood years the comfort of old friends For all must see, forever we fear how this life must end

"

From time to time I wonder thoughts

that dream of what might be

I wander glade, stroll promenade

make sense of all I see

____________________________

Valleys, rivers, majestic woods

of these, playgrounds are made

Where my clan, played kick the can

and man was measured, weighed

____________________________

We look back to our childhood years

the comfort of old friends

For most must see, forever we

fear how this life must end

__________________________

That promise of a wondrous place

where we forever play

Bestows the thought, it may be bought

through faith if we don't stray

______________________________

What awaits us there, up above

that we do not have here

Life's greatest strength, comes not from length

but springs of love not fear

Author's Note

Tate Morgan
I say what matters in this life? Could it be we learn kindness is it's own reward? I will talk to God when and if I see him. But friends don't need help in Heaven. They need help on Earth. So I shall do the best I can with the resources allotted to me. May all your wishes come true.

Love- Indifference- Hate, of the three, Indifference is the worst , it has no weight, no side to sit on , energy none, just illusion .Then there is Tate, He has whittled away at himself, done what we are scared to do .He knows what he means and means what he knows. We survive, endure this Devils world, and Tate he gives us hooks to hang our thoughts on.

Forgive the rather late reply Tate
I enjoyed your offering immensely
I liked the rhyme scheme as much as the content.

Yep, you have worked it out again. I think you are right, we do cherish our childhoods because we didn't know then what faces us and time moooooved slooooowly. Then it speeds up and we get scared and then more scared. But you are right we should not live with this fear because it mars us. Again, your lines are refreshing, nourishing, life affirmative. Respect, poet!

Nicely done here. I like the flow and the words are penned well. It is nice to read a poem about the reminders of childhood.

You bring up some interesting points but keep the rhyme scheme flowing. Wonderfully expressed thoughts. This poem brought to mind this quote:
"Do all the good you can
to all the people you can
in all the places you can...as long as ever you can."- John Wesley

The words of a father to his son even as the father lingers in the twilight of the games he played with his boy. To rise to the notions that arise in the world which, while they seek to preserve the joys of childhood also speak of a greater need for social concerns....and to discern of the experience the many relations in the clan.

Beautiful write so thought provoking, always baffles me why we hope for some reward for good deeds, good deeds or kindness is an end in itself. We all fear death the coming of age and well an afterlife would be a lovely bonus.

"Mankind’s strength comes not from life's length
but from embracing love not fear"
We change with life to know what is truly important. Love is the emotion to keep us strong and sane. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
