Something Worth Living For

Something Worth Living For

A Poem by Sports Girl

I used to use you all the time

You helped me but only for a while

I’d go to you whenever I’d get depressed

You were always there when I needed you

You helped me release some of my pain

No one had any idea about it

We’d sit in the shower for hour’s everyday

We’d be in there till the hot water ran out

I’d get out and go sit on my bed

You’d be right there next to me each time

I always wanted to use you a lot more

You’d always leave when it was time to

Once you’d leave I’d think about why I was doing it

The only answer was because it took away the pain

You would wait around till I needed you again

Once I needed you we’d do the normal routine

As time went on I started using you less

The pain was still there but I just didn’t want you

It got hard to handle it at times though

You always knew when it was getting two hard

You started getting really mad at me

You’d always call each time I started slipping up

I always tried to ignore you t

It was hard though you never gave up

Sometimes I’d give in and go see you

I’d stare at you for a while deciding what to do

You were strong but I became stronger

You had already left enough scares on me

I still think about you sometimes

I want to use you again at times when I get sad

But I can’t anymore

I won’t and can’t let you win again

I can handle the pain better than before

I have people who care about me a lot

I have people who love me now

Most of all I have things worth living for

so much sadness and pain writen in the lines. You put a lot of heart into this poem. I'm happy that you stopped and found something to live for. I love your poem it's a great poem. Keep up the great work, and I I wish you the best. I know in time the pain will be a lot easyer to live with, Take care.

drips of loneliness and longing for that old faithful "friend"...one could take this as an ode to an addiction to anything...well written well told

Very heartfelt poem. and you can feel the pain from having your "friend" yet resenting it at the same time. Then the transformation to a stronger person...good job
