Lake Mind Quieted

Lake Mind Quieted

A Poem by Shaun Payton
"

Unrequited love

"
What trembles in thy hand?
What tears in thine eyes?
Waterfalls springing new
Ideas and wonders grand
Youthful whims of summers ago
The older folks thought us crazy
Free and unalarmed by the changing winds
Sprung briskly arrows from a bow
What leaps from a heart of faith?
What steals joys from the soul?
Count them all on two hands
We'll do somersaults in any case
What is buried in a grave?
A body of work, once living artistry in motion
How to be moved by theme of ocean
Those waves of heart beats
I'll never waiver.
Love unreciprocated, held in hands alone
It is not nothing less, but something more as diamonds dust scratch the bone
What trembles in thy hand?
A mere pen, more immortal than me
How I write fondly of thee
And quiver where I stand
What tears in thine eyes?
A love I've known, in which none compare.
What of sorrow in losses?
Skipping rocks of memories
Across the lake mind quieted
But surely, we are rivers of every sense
And if lucky, or destined, we shall follow tomorrow.
What of dreams we do not recall?
They were dreamed in some status
Of will or imagination,
To where no stars fall
And we walk hand in hand
As from bow, arrows of eternal love
Flew over the lake mind quieted.

Now the poet confesses his love! Passion gliding like a shadowed wing mirrored on the glassy waters of humanities wet embrace. Now the poet inspires the pen to dip and send its ripples into the infinity of entropy...
The thinking mind has let the heart speak!
Wonderful!

What a surreal and beautiful poem. I agree with David, your inspiration is so heart-felt that it felt "not of this world" a heavenly read indeed!

Thank you so very much Muse:)
A stunning and moving write...and I love the way you articulate your language of deep feelings
with the slight touch of Old English poetry...it adds that extra flavor of romance...Enjoyed Shaun....Rose

A love I've known, in which none compare.-- This is my favorite stanza...steeped in emotional depth.

This piece has a very classical feel, and I enjoyed that. The use of "thine" and "thy" sets a certain tone that we don't normally see these days, but it works well with the idea of unrequited love. I also enjoyed the imagery here. Nicely done.
