Tender Ribbon

Tender Ribbon

A Poem by Amanda Trerotola

Tragedy.
Cutting the very ribbon
Delicately tethering a family together
Like a gift
Nothing worth wrapping
Worth saving
Cut, fold, loop, repeat.
Goodbye.
A gift never meant for delivery.

So beautifully written and tugs this reader’s sentimental heart...

The spare nature of this one leaves much to the imagination. That does not mean feeling is not communicated, however. It sounds as though a death, possibly a sudden one, altered a close knit family forever. ''Cut, fold, loop, repeat./ Goodbye.'' Much pain, much grief, is contained in those terse lines. A very moving work.
