When you wake

When you wake

A Poem by beauitifulybroken

Sit down
Cry your heart out
Until your eyes feel heavy with sleep
Look in the mirror
Hate the body you keep
Pinch your fat between your fingers so hard
It leaves bruises, but you don’t bleed
Delude yourself, think that you can hate yourself
Because to love yourself is too deep
You’ve used concrete to fill in the holes
That threatens to tear you in two
You’ve used poison to drown out the sorrows
That threatens to consume you
But when is enough,
enough?
Who planted these seeds of doubt
You came into this world an innocent
But somehow, you think you deserve pain
You came into this world so naive
Desperate for love and affection
You burned down the walls of your home,
your safety
Your body is battered and bruised
What once stood tall, is shrunken down
Ashes, to ashes,
Dust to dust
You do what you must
To survive another day
but what will be left
When you wake?
