Tired Breath

Tired Breath

A Poem by C.J.G.

I always find myself in the exact same place,

Feelings that exact same way,

Breathing that tired breath again.

I try to run away from that feeling,

The disappearing feeling,

That makes me question my every move,

But I always circle back to that emptiness.

It follows me in the shadow of my every step.

It hides in between the corners of my mind,

And always contorts into reality once the high of freedom washes away.

I long to be happy through all the days,

Have a genuine smile that engulfs my face,

But the pain always surfaces and swallows that bliss

Every time.

And I always find myself in the exact same place,

Feeling that exactly same way,

And breathing that tired breath

Again.

I know the feeling. It seem like I don't move forward. Feels like I'm moving backward. A very good poem. I like the many true statements in your poem.
"It follows me in the shadow of my every step.
It hides in between the corners of my mind,
And always contorts into reality once the high of freedom washes away."
A outstanding poem. Sometime we must find a new path. Try to escape the norm.
