Line In The Sand

Line In The Sand

A Poem by A.Lee
"

those unreachable goals....

"

There’s a line drawn in the sand

Its nearly half way down the road

Its not too far and its not uphill

But never can I get close

I’ve yearned to reach it all my life

To finally gain your love

But every time I’m almost there

You quickly give me a shove

You move the line so far away

That its nearly out of sight

Then fold your arms across your chest

“Just when will you get it right?”

I shake my head in such despair

As I chase impossible dreams

Dreams you hate that I don’t fulfill

Yet make sure I will never reach

This is really good. It talks about how a lot of goals are unreachable.

As usual you write about real life. Your work inspires - and just a thought here - have you ever thought of publishing? You are really good - and you keep it real.

Line in sand indeed...well thought out..love becomes such an difficult goal to achieve..love of parents..lovers..siblings..you are never quite right there how much ever you strive to be..always something seems to go wrong..love can only be true and kind if both accept each other as they are..
you have not wasted words..it is simple,honest..genuine.

This powerful to me because, It seems almost as if this person is beginning
to accept being a wanderer. There is a wide open world for them to build
their own way..but this unfinished business holds them back. I thought about
how they would have to give up on their past to begin the future. How do
you go about doing that when you have so many unanswered questions?
How do you answer the questions without going back to where you began?
There are no easy answers in my mind. You have definitely raised some
questions that lead to a person defining them self. Beautiful work.

This is very good, I'm wondering if you would enjoy songs by Linkin Park, because they have many lyrics about just this sort of thing. I don't know, just a suggestion, though it may be off-subject :)
Back on subject, very good write! Excellent rhythm and I love the last two stanzas. :)

This truly represents those poeple in our lives in which we have the most trouble with pleasing. We tend to think we have given all of ourselves, but that one person never seems satisfied by anything given to them. What comes to mind is the old saying of when is enough, enough. We are either trapped in a cycle of destructive behavior, or blindly allowing love to guide us. Wonderful poem.

It's not nothing special! This is great! You're so good at puting into words what I just can't explain... You've really captured the frustration and the longing. I love your poetry. Great job! :D

I like how this reads. It has a nice flow to it. It expresses the search for unattainable love in all it's aspects.
