Line In The Sand

Line In The Sand

A Poem by A.Lee
"

those unreachable goals....

"

There’s a line drawn in the sand

Its nearly half way down the road

Its not too far and its not uphill

But never can I get close

I’ve yearned to reach it all my life

To finally gain your love

But every time I’m almost there

You quickly give me a shove

You move the line so far away

That its nearly out of sight

Then fold your arms across your chest

“Just when will you get it right?”

I shake my head in such despair

As I chase impossible dreams

Dreams you hate that I don’t fulfill

Yet make sure I will never reach

I like the imagery you used here. Well done.

This reads really nicely and flows equally well. The last verse stands out for me. It shows the kind of paradox that exists in relationships of all kinds.. They give so much yet take so much away, and it seems as though you are fighting against one another.. despite the fact you may both wish the very best for eachother's respective goals... I have found this myself at times.. And i think most of the time the other person is totally unaware that they are restraining the other...
A difficult and complex problem, and you have covered it neatly and concisely here without falling short of meaning.
The last verse is so strong that I feel it pulls the others into sharper focus.

Amazing poem, i love it.

what i love here is -- the line drawn in the sand will always be temporary -- a good strong wind will erase it every time -- you speak of this line as if you are unaware or just not caring about the outcome -- just give me today - all that i need and deserve
