Linger

Linger

A Poem by Caddie O'brien
"

cleaning out my emotional closet confronting the damage done years ago from my father's departure

"

Six years old running along cliffs

with you by my side

Dad to keep me safe, adore me

Make proud

25 years later

After yet another failed union

Fragments from your abrupt departure

Linger

Framing a destructive pattern

Not feeling enough

Making others happy at my expense

This is Long Overdue

Unbury it, let go, mend myself…

Aiming to embrace risk with the security of a child again

I love your presentation
the spacing and use of space
such as 'Linger'
and how the whole piece resemdled a cliff visually
brings you back to the first verse of him running beside you
on the cliffs
Well done
