when you did nothing but walk,
when you could not see sky,
when the clouds blocked your view,
I gave you those wings.

when your soul was too weary,
when your face looked at ground,

when you suddenly saw me,
when you saw what you could be,
when we danced, and were happy,
I gave you those wings.

and we grew them together,
when we loved each other,
when your face was familiar,
I gave you those wings.

I gave you those wings
when your wings flew away,
when your face turned away,
when my heart began to break,
I gave you those wings.

I gave you those wings
though you never were grateful,
I flew with you so loyal,
and you wanted no other,
I gave you those wings.

I gave you those wings
the wings that turned against me,
that did not care for me,
that chose someone else, for me,
I gave you those wings.

I gave you those wings
so you could learn to fly,
so you could travel on,
so you could see the sky,
I gave you those wings.
