Shadows of the past

Shadows of the past

A Poem by Carissa Marie
"

Sometimes the shadows of the past comes back to haunt us

"
Dark skies take over,
As the coldness pierces her heart.
The shadows of the past creeps silently
In the silence of the night.
It crawls slowly, eerily,
Towards where she lies.
Trying to seep into her consciousness
To where it could feed her sorrows,
To where it could continue its torment
On her battered soul
And her feeble spirit.
It takes over her body,
Stabbing daggers
And ripping bones.
It hungrily devours her senses.
Not giving her a chance to fight.
It smiled a triumphant smile,
As she writhes in agony,
And bleeds from the pain.
She shouts and screams,
Crying fervently for help.
It laughs with glee
To see her suffering
As much as she used to be.
With a victorious glimmer in its eyes,
And with the promise of an immediate return
The shadows back away slowly
To give way to the morning light.
