Poetry and Photographs

Poetry and Photographs

A Poem by Carissa Marie

My writing turns to scrawls and scribbles,
As I rush to write about you.
Your eyes,
Your face,
Your smell,
Your movements -
I have them all memorized and yet,
I find myself wanting to forget.
I keep on pressing the button of my camera -
Continuously, my shutter clicks and clacks.
I'm hoping to find at least your shadow,
Even though I know, it won't help.

I still see the faint vision of you in my photographs -
Your curly hair flying, as you play by the meadows.
The glittery glint in your eyes, as they catch the sun's rays.
That moment when you fell over and tumbled,
Spilling all the food, and ruining the picnic we prepared.
I am worried that -
My memories of you becomes fainter and fainter by the day,
But your face in my photographs stays the same.
---

Long ago, I loved these two:
Poetry and Photography.
And when we met, you added to the duo.
But then you left
And you took these two away from me.

And your words began haunting my poetry,
As your face invades my photographs, -
I lose all the things I loved the most.
