Melancholy

Melancholy

A Poem by Carissa Marie

Take me away, Oh melancholia-
To the land where you reside.
I want to bathe in the river of your memories
And wash away my tears
So they could flow with the current towards
The pit of your soul.
Do not pity me.
Do not fret as you see me in my shackles.
I have lived a long life of suffering -
Your pain and sympathy does me no good.
Instead, release me from this prison
And take me away.
Take me away, Oh melancholia-
To the land where you are free.

To be free from suffering and released from pain, in an unforgiving world. Heartfelt, sad and poignant words, beautifully capturing the angst within. Thank you for sharing.
