Learning me

Learning me

A Poem by Caroline B A Maguire
"

the journey into oneself is no holiday

"
To know myself
How hard could that be I once naively thought
When I was young and the world was kind
And I believed in the fairy tale
The happily ever after

Then one day I happened upon my sleeping demons
And woke them thinking them friends
And in a way they were as they wanted to play
Life changed
They played with me whilst I fought with them
But in my battles I grew
I discovered my power that had lay dormant
Until such a time my soul needed this strength

Somewhere on the journey the tables turned and I played with the demons
I took away their power when I loved them
And I survived the now Grimm fairy tale
And despite the sorrow and pain and fear
There is still, miraculously, a happy ending to be found

I have found it to be true that growth is always happening and a happy ending is to be found. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Terrifying. As it must be for us all, a necessary evil ..loved the last stanza.

Indeed, if there is any value to suffering, it's the growth that can arise from it.
