A Poem by Chris Shaw

You bring me a kaleidoscope
of coloured swirls,
patterned pathways, crescent curls.
Shapes which oscillate and turn.
Hues that burn in blazing heat.
These shades and tones are indiscreet.
They are the colours of desire,
wanton passion, tongues of fire.
Red and yellow combination
spell out DANGER, not temptation.

Yet dressed there in your top and tails,
you offer me in your left hand
a single orchid pure and white.
You hold a flower which delights.
Polite, respectful, somewhat coy,
is this a ploy? Is this the man you are?
Could you be Satan in disguise
or have you fallen from a star?

Hmm, danger or temptation....Call me a cynic, but this is the world we sadly live in. To be honest, with all the possible dangers out there, im surprised this whole dating malarkey ever took off.
Its bad enough from a guys perspective, but a woman hearing a line these days must think "hmm, should I leave my comfort zone and move into a strangers, who are generally speaking the biggest threat to our kind, have a few drinksand hope im not spiked and tomorrows headline in the local paper?
But it seems we wouldnt have it any other way.
As I said in my previous review to ya, no wonder kids think we're weird. :)
Ps...this review may have been cheerier if I hadn't just seen gritter trucks out my kitchen window. Sorry about that :)

:))…......…...
The rhythm and rhyme in this one is downright intoxicating! Hard to tell if a man dressed in a tux...or even tails...has good intentions or not. Perhaps it is the danger of not knowing that makes him more desirable!
"wanton passion....tongues of fire...." incredible phrases. This one sizzles. Lydi**

this is interesting...reminds me of the story of how Emily Dickinson greeted Colonel Higginson when she met him...flower in her hand. so shy in a way...but he knew the power of words that she had..
