Talking To Roses

Talking To Roses

A Poem by Chris Shaw

i don't suppose
you have ever tenderly
taken twixt two fingers
the bloom of a red
garden rose to tell
her how beautiful she is
.
for her to reply
with a random scratch
from a wayward sharp
thorn that drew
blood
.
"aye she said
you were once too"
.

Hopefully you will not end up dormant like that Princess from German fairy tales. Roses are beautiful and delicate but if someone is not delicate it's can end up with bleeding. There is few bushes who have also thorns . I think this is good metaphor, we should everyone tread kindly with special care. And also forward to animals and whole this planet. I enjoyed cause it was like walking in patch of roses beautiful and meaningful.

I feel almost unworthy to even review this -- not even in a self-deprecating sense, for instead the simple and profound beauty is overwhelmingly humbling to me even and especially in my most empowered and assured state. I love this. Thank you for gracing us with the blessing of crafting and sharing it.

May you feel as uplifted as you do humbled.
We are naive and tender like a baby plant . But then we grow roots for we fear the land slipping away. We grow metallic branches to never let anyone give us an opening . After all its survival of the fittest. Fair or not. A wonderful read, mate.

She sounds Scottish with that Aye Chris, and to be fair, they do get kinda prickly when you pick them up. And trust me, most women I've picked up made me bleed so much 😀
You do know you can leave your garden now Chris 😀

I love roses too, but they have to be handled with care. Many thanks Katrina.

Chris
Whether you curse the pain of the thorn or cherish the beauty of the rose indicates the course
of your life.
Word of advice, though: Don't talk too long to those roses--especially, when other people are around.
Work to be admired!
