Love's Rain Falls

Love's Rain Falls

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

For. Beautiful Beth my granddaughter

"
ma petite fleur
in darkest of nights
i hear your tears

jack boots trample
the spring flowers of
your heart

your sobs are my pain
your broken chains
touch the core of me

love can be cruel
striking with a serrated knife
you bleed butcher red

for the first time
and unlikely the last
love's rain falls

love's rain falls

Beth is a very lucky young woman indeed .. I am sure she will learn quick, after all, she has an excellent mentor ....................................... it wasn't that many years ago I scribbled something very similar for my own petite fleur, who married this very June :)

ah yes, those teenage years of falling in & out of love, or unrequited love, we all go through it, & hopefully with additional wisdom & life experience.

Oops typos. Should be 'eye', sorry.
I suppose only one who has experienced their own bout with break-up can appreciate it when another also suffers. It is the end of the world ... you don't understand ...

Grandparents don't know what its like ...

as if we have not been in their shoes ...

But history repeats and only the names have changed.

Good one Chris ... a bit of a departure from your usual bits ... I like it.

Your granddaughter is fortunate to have such a grandmother that understands, and can emphatise on such a profound level. One's own pain is so much more easily borne than that of a loved one. "Love's rain" is a great metaphor, by the way. At least we knwow that nothing lasts: neither love, not the pain one feels when love is gone.

This line gave me goosebumps, as if that broken chain brushed against my skin. The empathy is conveyed so well here. I hope healing comes for your granddaughters heart.

You really feel for loved ones who have had their hearts broken. It’s a cruel world but if it’s not right better to know earlier. Nice writing Chris.

Really moving dear Chris. When You see someone You love in pain specially those You feel you are responsible for them You wish You are in pain instead of them, still knowing it's their journey and knowing the future filled with gifts and unfolding in front of them, all what You can offer is your love, the heart, the ears, the kindness and care. I hope your beloved Beth will get over soon of her situation healed and healthy. sending her so much warmth and healing lights✨

Awhh; yes, those first heartaches
from heartbreakers are filled with
many tears ..time will wash away
those hurtful feelings of love..
Would that we could absorb those
tears for them..but it's meant to
be as they will learn from them

I have no grandchildren, yet I know that the pain of a grandchild is the pain of a mother and grandmother. The bond is too strong not to recognize the pain.

Nice poem, Chris.

As we grow older we seem to weather the storms more sturdily. I feel like an ancient bristlecone pine that lives inside its knurled and twisted trunk only because its heart is too stubborn to die. It hurts to see these young folks suffer; we love them and wish we could bear all their suffering for them, being better prepared by life to weather the tempest. But alas, we cannot. We can only offer our wisdom and experience to guide them and hope for the best. Your love and dedication shine pure and bright here. Beautiful in the expressions proffered. Tenderly, F.
