Love's Rain Falls

Love's Rain Falls

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

For. Beautiful Beth my granddaughter

"
ma petite fleur
in darkest of nights
i hear your tears

jack boots trample
the spring flowers of
your heart

your sobs are my pain
your broken chains
touch the core of me

love can be cruel
striking with a serrated knife
you bleed butcher red

for the first time
and unlikely the last
love's rain falls

love's rain falls

Beth is a very lucky young woman indeed .. I am sure she will learn quick, after all, she has an excellent mentor ....................................... it wasn't that many years ago I scribbled something very similar for my own petite fleur, who married this very June :)

Bleeding butcher red drops of love blood! You're killing me! Your granddaughter cried on your shoulder and you wrote this about her experience? I like that use of poetry. Let someone know you understand by expressing it in song. I hope she can clean up the mess and all that blood doesn't stain her life.

Oh, but the first heartbreak is the worst. You think you will never get over it and you swear you will never love again....but you will. Such love for your granddaughter in this one. If she confides in you, you are a fortunate Grandma! Lydi**

Love can be so cruel, and the pain is horrible! The poem is emotional and sad. The reader can feel that pain. So sorry your granddaughter got hurt like that.

Yes, we do and your welcome!
Wonderful words Chris, being a parent/grandparent holds so much joy but also it’s fair share of worry. All that we want in life is to see those that we love be happy.

It's hard to think about the future when pain is so in your face. I suppose the rebound is a lot sweeter, but only after we have swept up the crumbs of wet was our life. Great writing Christine!

I love the ending of this poem. I hope and pray that it's the first and last rain of love for her. You painted a picture of a heartbreak but then put me out of the misery with the last few hopeful lines.

I am sure she will.
this is so beautifully worded...the pain does cut the parent or grandparent like a knife....

and those wounds are difficult to mend...
love's rain just won't stop....and the repetition of that line intimates that.

Have probably been the cause of a few tears and regret this now a tad more sensible and " grown up"
Tis different for us boys, or so we would have people believe.
Hopefully young Beth will heal quickly and find a pebble that suits better.
Lovely poem Christine.
Hope all is well in sunny Berks

dear Chris... I have three granddaughters... and I cannot imagine their being in pain. My grandson has not suffered pain, except for the loss of a first girlfriend who wanted to establish her Life Goal of attending College before falling in love. Now my grandson is also studying for his Career.
Your Poem is more tragic than minor upsets. A lovely Poem from a devoted Grandmother. tenderly, Pat
