Changing the World One Person at a Time

Changing the World One Person at a Time

A Poem by Carole

What will I do with the gifts I've been given?

Will I use them for good

To touch the life of another?

      Perhaps a mother

                     a father

                     a son

                     or a daughter

Will I speak a word that will lighten a load?

Will I, by my listening, help to ease life's bitter woes?

Could I encourage even just one human life

And lift them from a place of preponderous strife?

Could I be the person that lends a hand

To a precious woman or a precious man

That have spent their life time in a dark miry pit

Questioning life and ready to quit?

All of life's experiences can become costly and invaluable jewels

Each one can become a wonderous tool

One of our trials may be the one that brings life

To a man or a woman, a husband or wife

Though each of us are only one solitary person on this earth

We must never forget our incredible worth

Using our gifts with others in mind

We can change this world one person at a time

this is a great poem. i totally agree with you too...we are to help one another. be it thru good or bad times.

Usually it only takes one to make a difference just as you've done here. Great optimism, great hope, And a great reminder that we're each accountable for the gift(s) within us.

You've illustrated exactly how changes come; one person at a time, with each of us helping each other. I wish more people believed that's how the world was intended to work, not all of this selfish, me me me, mentality that's prevalent today.

I like the structure of this piece too. Everything works together well with the message you're sending out.

Thank you for sharing this.

take care :)

As bright and positive as the sunflower pic that heralds it! In a time with so much "dark" writing, it refreshing to see something so upbeat! Julian

This is an outstanding and beautiful poem. I love the heart behind the words because I feel a kindred spirit speaking here. God always moves in one direction...forward. Forward thinking and concern for others, respect, love and beauty are traits which I greatly admire and I see physical evidence of all three here in these words. Just a wonderful write!

You are so right! I agree.....I love this and the message you put forth..
I agree with Crystal too.. it does begin with one person at a time as you have shown.

There are so many people who think they can't make a difference because there's so much to do that it's overwhelming. Well, you've shown that it can be done one person at a time. I truly believe this is where it all starts.

Great job and thanks for sharing.

Carole, this is a very important piece of work! I like the humility and advice portrayed in it.
We certainly can change the world, starting in our own back yards. If we do this dilligently we will be successful. Nice work, keep writing...you're good at it!!!
Cheers,
Helen.

Gifts can be an expression of love, friendship, gratitude, piety, charity, solidarity or mutual aid.

One of our trials may be the one that brings life

To lay down ones life for another

Beautifully composed. Definitely saved as a favourite!

Gods Blessing
