Faint golden light from a lavender sun

scratched in charcoal sketches of life days

glass etchings and pottery spent with

the music of the Beatles lacing ribbons around us

oils draped on soul and spirit

black and blue

a word of praise for paint

and the warm sun

days of meandering halls with no direction

but that room

a haven from piercing shadows

colored in light tones of amber sunsets

saving the outcasts

embracing the strays...

Author's Note

An owl on the moon
A surreal dedication to my high school art teacher Mr. Brooks who helped save many aimless lives. Hope life has been as kind to him as he was to us... Don't think I would still be alive if not for that haven...

Yep, you left cookies and my favorite kind...expression filled..light and airy ....with all the hints of skill. I do admire you and all the other artists here.I only scribble while you preform miracles. Time all but stops when I enter into these great kingdoms. Yours are truly more than just words or paintings...they are the masterpieces of essence, love,& wisdom. I am glad that Mr. brooks saved you ...the world needs multifaceted souls like yourself to keep sanctuary tween the shades alive. :)

Now seeing the author's note I must say that is a heart warming dedication... A gorgeous tribute. We need to honor those who are heroes flying under the radar.

What a lovely dreamlike poem, a memory of a sanctuary for the body and soul... It brings back memories of my own times spent in the art room or photography dark room. Wonderful that there are refuges like this that accept anyone, outcasts, strays, and those who love the room for the paint and paper and freedom to express themselves with it.
