WHEN I DIE...

WHEN I DIE...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

My life's prayer... (Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die - Amelia Burr)

"

When I die

I do not wish

To merely slumber into the grave

But to yield my last breath

Of my own will

When I die

I shall be found

Seeking Valhalla

Place of honor

The heavens

Having lived not fearing death

Nor fearing life

But clinging with fierceness

To all that is holy

all that is good

Life surrendered to the flames

To the orphans and the widows

To hope and peace

Not selfish glory

When I die

May I be on fire

burning bright

Like the sun

devouring the world

With my passion

And when I die,

I pray

I hope

I resolve

To die

Having been fully alive…

An owl on the moon
The Greeks didn't write obituaries... They only asked one question after a man died: "Did he have passion?"

Craig, from one brother to another. "When you die, you will be remembered as a man of love that loves the gifts of beauty that God has bestowed upon your heart that is seen through the eyes of a man named Craig. Your poems, your writings, and your book (An Owl On The Moon) i think its called...If not, I'm sorry, will be the legacy left behind from a soul that has walked, talked and graced these crossroads that we all walk together. Your words will be left behind as a tool for others to read. Today, tomorrow, and forever in the hearts of all that come to know you in person and the words you write.

*laughs* It seems everyone has beat me to the chase. Now anything I say about this piece will sound so cliche.
None the less, I really like this. *smile*
It's so epic and yet at the same time very simple.
Lovely.
I hope we all can claim this in our own ends.

Great poem!! It's true that the only thing we can do is to live a good life and take advantage of all of the blessings that God has given us, so that we may not fear death - but to love it, so that we can join Him.
Very well written poem!!!!! I enjoyed reading it. :)

This is a powerful and emotional piece am left feeling absorbed by the thought that life is just a mere stepping stone from one life to the next and when one is finally put to rest that we exist only in a shell and our spirit is eternal where will we venture next? is there any truth that past life regression really occurs and that our spirit is removed from this existence to the next life form, do we inherit a new body? any way i would like to thank you for reading my poem and also to invite you to read my novel entitled "SPIRITS OF THE LOST WORLD" you will find it listed at www.booksie.com/bufferdude you don't need to register to the site in order to read and make comments unlike other sites look forward to seeing you there take care ROSANNA ALIAS BUFFERDUDE

"Slumber into the grave": Such a wealth of information, created by changing a single preposition, indicating he was already asleep, sleepwalking through life even before The Big Sleep.Wonderful, as always!

Death is not what everyone believes. Death could be as wonderful and as beautiful as life, if one would take it on a different light. A mind, which is not clouded with fear and deception, will be able to think of it as an alternate place for heaven. With these thoughts, to die is as sweet as to live. And that, when one dies, he won't just be slumbering in his grave. This seems like a will. Nice one.

I loved this!
It makes me want to read more of you and your
morning countenance.
I love a persons own passion about something whether it be
to help hungry children, abused women, or the arts.
That passion and that zeal wakes us up
in the mornings.

Never forget passion for without it we are truly dead. Death to me is a stepping stone, a small one and I am not afraid of it either Craig because I have lived with passion about all things. If you are going to do something do it with unbridled passion, throw your heart and soul into it and you will reap the rewards.
So glad you feel this way...
