The embrace of morning...

The embrace of morning...

A Poem by An owl on the moon
"

I walked until I saw the last star of the night…

"

I walked until I saw

the last star of the night…

Chill air soft-stroking my cheeks

breathing out misted musings…

Houses sound asleep

sighing for daybreak…

I stopped and stared up

at the star waiting

as the sun-blushed sky

kissed the dawn

with cherry lips…

And I wished

oh not a subtle whisper

but a shouting entreaty

with a heart aching

for its homeplace…

There up in that winter sky

holding on to twilight

the star smiled

knew its job was done…

I puckered up my cold lips

and blew

and watched

as the last star

flickered

winked

and fell asleep

into the embrace

of morning…

awe, this is beautiful!! Kissing the star good night as it blinked out with the sun rise! Thanks for the view of the sunrise!! I'm a moonrise watcher and star gazer most nights of the year; sunrises for me are rare though I should witness more of them for I might see critters I miss by sleeping during the morning hours. Thanks for sharing your write!! Enjoyed it much!!

as the sun-blushed sky

This was one of my favorite parts...

and fell asleep
into the embrace
of morning…

and this was another... you have a unique way of looking at everyday moments, and showing us what we are missing when we are not looking through your lense. I loved every moment of this read!

You had me picture the beautiful sun rises we have here in the countryside of Pennsylvania. I truly love seeing such a scene. The bright orange and red of the sky that lights the clouds as the last star and moon bid their farewell is so vivid. :) Very beautiful! I'm glad to have read this today. Excellent.

I shall be searching the sky for that special star! Your words are always so very enchanting, and particularly so in this write.....

as the last star flickered winked and fell asleep into the embrace of morning...........

Oh, do take me there!

you have such a way with words, I can so see you wishing upon that distant star by the dawn's light. I like that the star, after it's job is completed, could fall asleep in "the embrace of morning." What a great line!

What beautiful words, what beautiful phrases! You've generously opened time and shared it with your readers.

'And I wished oh not a subtle whisper but a shouting entreaty with a heart aching for its homeplace… ' .. such wistful, sweet wording as if you're saying a prayer.

Superb.

I've never really been fond of positive writes, but this one made me re-think my judgement.
You can never really over-use personification, in my opinion, and you've shown that well.
