Fire

Fire

A Poem by Chelsea
"

A house of fire, trapped, are the family.

"

Fire

Fire alarms scream

Piercing the nights’ silence

Awaking the sleeping family

To a picture of horror

Flames engulf the house

Trapped, they are

Waiting for the flames to eat them

Hear the shouts?

As they choke on the smother smoke

Hear the cries?

As flames scorch their skin

Living the worst nightmare

Of torture and pain

It’s over now

All that remains is rubble

This was inspired by a poem my best friend (hannajade) wrote. Dedcated to anybody who has lost anything due to a fire.
Please review! I also have another version of this, if anybody thinks I should post it....

Fires are so scary. They destroy so quickly. Love this poem. My house that my husband and I lived in was in a fire. I called the fire department. He got really mad that I called them, but they saved our house. The plumber unknowingly set our house on fire when he smelted one of our pipes in the downstairs powder room. It set the fire between the lower and the upperfloor of our house.

To die in a fire would be one of the worst ways to die. It would be almost as bad as drowning or suffocating.

Tragic, but well-written. It hurt to read this, but it was beautiful.

One of my brother's daughters and two of her children died in a fire. Her two oldest daughters got out on their own, and she got her baby out and handed her to someone. Then she went back inside to get her other two who were 3 and 6 yr. old. They all three perished. I can only hope that the smoke took them before the fire could. This was very hard for me to read, but that's because it was so well done in its description.

The death is a fire would be the hardest way to die. I believe would be no words for the torment of dying in a fire. I like the feel and the emotion of this poem. The terror fire can cause need to be understood. Need those fire alarms to alert us to escape. A excellent poem.
