October Night Dreams

Crisp October starry

Skies steal away

September's dreams of hot

Indian summer nights.

Lovers lie in bliss while

Wrapped in blankets

Watching the flames

Fight to devour the fresh,

Split wood.

Sweet kisses pour

Over the downy

Little head of an infant,

As she lightly coos from

Her pink bassinet.

Black spiders fastidiously

spindle their deadly

creations of art,

As dreams of an October

Night come true.

I like the transition from Indian Summers to brisk chilling Fall nights. They are often instant.

Really quite beautiful; this picture that you draw in delicate webs of woven words...chilling the skin but warming the soul...lovely.

Dearest Marie,
Your prose is exquisite, draws out the fall colors in the weary mind now that summer if finally over. A phenominal observation of the season, sweet memory of the reason people take someone's hand before the snow comes; chop wood for the fires of December. Bravo my sweet! BZ

Great picture, too.

Yes. See s it was only yesterday that it was 98 degrees and now it's 60 here. Nice imagery. Tying the lovers at the fireplace, brings back memories of when I had a fireplace! Thanks

I don't like the transition at all. I hate the cold.
