Writing Poetry

Opening my mind each time

To see what pours out through my pen

 

Hoping that giving life to these horrible thoughts

Will help me finally put them to a healthy end

 

Learning more about myself each and every day

With every poem that I write

 

Colors appear to be brighter and sounds are clearer

When I see my refection in the poet’s mirror

 

Healing has no ceiling in my heart

With every poem that gives me personal insight

Oh very well done! I really like your perspective on the whole writing thing. I know I feel the same way. It's almost a new adventure everytime I resort to the sanity of pen and paper. What will you write today? Always endless possibilities. So I relate well to the first stanza!
And I love the second stanza. I was reading a book called thirteen reasons why by Jay Asher. And it reminded me of a line from it. Hanna, in the book said that poetry was healing, but cheaper than therapy :)
And so true, your third stanza. I find that I have alot more to myself than I think. I am able to write about bigger things than I think I'm able to!! So well done that stanza.
And poets mirror? Hmm, what were you getting at here? I was confused, so would you mind clarifying?? I like the sound of this, it creates great imagery!

I really liked this. I wanted the last stanza to rhyme like the one before it though. It had a nice pacing and rythm throughout and a it had a deep message. good job

This is interesting, and a good insight into the mind of a poet. Indeed, this piece is a reminder that poetry can be more than just a means of self-expression. We can also use it to unleash our emotions, or to perceive the world in a different way. Or. simply to describe it differently. Whatever your point of view, I feel pretty sure that Marie has a true artistic temperament! Thankyou, for sharing these insights into a poetic mind!
