Walk With Me

Walk With Me

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about difficult relationships

"

Walk With Me

Why do you vile hiss and

Push me away,

When you want me close by?

Why do you draw me near and squeeze,

When you wish me to stray?

This struggle for love,

This struggle for hate,

Push, pull

                      Push, pull

The eggshell game

We play

You howl and scream,

Yearning to

Whisper tender words of love

It’s okay,

 I won’t abandon,

Your devoted daughter,

I'll always be,

On your side forever,

Safe harbor

From the raging storm

Hold my hand and walk with me,

Talk to me,

Love me,

I want to know you,

Tell me your dreams

And your sorrows

Put away your mask,

Don’t be afraid,

That's all I ask

Hold me close to your warm heart,

Soft place,

Sought from my downy start
