A Poem by Meghan

You're the boy with messy brown hair and blue eyes framed with glasses
who I met at the park on a warm summer's night
we talked about music and life
like we'd known each other for years,
but really those are the kinds of talks you can only have with strangers

You're the boy who kissed me in front of my red door
who snuck in after my parents were asleep
we laid in bed together
skin touching skin
that was the night you told me you loved me

You're the boy who went away at the end of summer
so I kept you my secret
we didn't talk much because I didn't want to feel it
but I felt it anyway
I always do

You're the boy that I gave everything to a year later
in an embarissing life changing night
I told you I loved you then
And I fell. Hard.

Knowing I never wanted to fall at all

You're the boy that breaks my heart every day
unintentionally of course, but nonetheless, you break it
because you're there and I'm here
we're too young to be in that kind of relationship
so for now you'll just be my bittersweet memory
