Walls

Walls

A Poem by Meghan

Summer air makes me remember

nothing in particular, just you.

It doesn't seem to make a difference

but you're my ever burning ember

Green and blue just don't agree

I always knew we'd fall apart

It didn't seem to make a difference

with you I always felt so free

and now you'll always have my heart

Greek mythology always spoke to me

hidden in my lyrics of you and me

You are Pyramus and I am Thisbe

but I'm not going to kill myself for you

Time made it hard,

but distance made it worse

Let's forget before we become a story

Let's forget before these walls become a curse

That park makes me remember

so i never go there anymore

it doesn't seem to make a difference

because New Jersey's in December

and you're so hard to ignore

Greek mythology always spoke to me

hidden in my lyrics of you and me

You are Pyramus and I am Thisbe

but I'm not going to kill myself for you

Time made it hard,

but distance made it worse

Let's forget before we become a story

Let's forget before these walls become a curse

So can I please shove you inside

my small chest of regrets

maybe this time it'll make a difference

At least I can say I tried

This is lyrical and beautiful. you're confident in this, you know what you're talking about, and maybe that's why I liked it so much. Honestly I am not familiar with Greek Mythology but I can appreciate it all the same. "But I'm not going to kill myself for you": You're making it known that you are going to look out for yourself and no one else, and this, Meg, (girl with the same name as my own) is an admirable quality.
