Clockwork Locket

Clockwork Locket

A Poem by Meghan

She wears a locket around her neck
*tick-tock* *tick-tock*
no picture inside, a clock instead
*tick-tock* *tick-tock*
a pretty design on the outside to see
*tick-tock* *tick-tock*
don't you understand, the locket is she
worn, but beautiful, gorgeous you see
but open it up
and its broken
yes, open her up
and she's broken

Easy to pretend it's alright inside,
but looks are deceiving
because inside she's bleeding

If you open her locket
it falls apart
just like her heart
does every time you go in
put it together
and for a time
everything's okay
but that's what they all say
open her up and she's broken
hopelessly broken

She wears a locket

I enjoy such sadness inside something so beautiful! But I also enjoy such beauty inside something so sad! Great job!

The Swiss watchmakers did a crappy job in my opinion. You, however, did an excellent job.

An amazing piece of writing. I love the way you used the locket as a representation of her heart. Loved it. Excellent.

Wow ... this is amazing! I like that you make the point that she wears the locket, not the other way round. You describe us flawed and fragile humans quite perfectly. Fantastic poem!
