Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by Meghan

I am my own downfall
I won't let you in, I won't let you in
find reasons in my old oeuvre
it hurts too much, it hurts too much
My eyes were blue when we first met

You called my name again
wanting me to come to bed
You kissed my neck and then you said
I'm going back to bed

and you just want the love you see
on every movie on t.v
but that kind of love you see
was never real to me.

I am my own downfall
I won't let love in, I won't let love in
around us people smile and dance
but those smiles will fade, their smiles will fade
My eyes were blue when we first me

You called my name again
This time I came into bed
you told me I was beautiful
and so I left the bed

Oh, I left love behind that night
a lost traveler searching for the light
You told me that you'd be alright
and I packed my things in the morning light, the morning light
yes, I packed my things in the morning light

you called my name again
wanting me to come to bed
There was no answer and so you said
I'm going back to bed

Oh, i wanted to love you with everything
But my heart doesn't let it happen a single time
You wanted the love you see on t.v
but that kind of love isn't real to me
it never was

I am my own downfall
I can't let love in.

I like the repetition in this; it gives hte poem a very musical quality and style. Great theme, too - really liked it!
