Rebecca

Rebecca

A Poem by Meghan

He stared into the fireplace
watching the flames
rise and fall; jump and flash
And when he threw more newspaper
to kindle the fire,
for just a moment,
it burned the same kind of green
flecked with orange that was in her eyes,
and he thought of her again
in the cream dress she wore
when she was bored
dancing and spinning in circles
eyes smiling and laughing...

He never knew just how sad she was.

Beautifully melancholic, with a surprise ending as well. A great read.
