Chapter 2: Joshua

Chapter 2: Joshua

A Chapter by Camelle

I am finally back home. It's been a long time since I’ve been here, well, at least, I'm staying for good now. My parents got a stable job again and I don't have to live in Manhattan, that place is not for me, too crowded and noisy. Nightlife is what I'm going to miss but I still prefer the peaceful place like this. I’d rather spend my entire life with my family close by.

I get back to the place where I first studied the first year in high school. Now that I'm in college, it's good to be here but I also feel like I’m a stranger. I am honestly nervous about all the people whom I will encounter, everything changed since the last time I saw this place. Even our house here changed a little. I am so glad that mom and dad used the money I gave to repair everything in this house, and as far as I can observe it got bigger well, aside from the three rooms I’m the only child, my parents stay at the master’s bedroom and I have my own, the other is for visitors. Mom always says it is good to have one extra room for my friends if they want to sleep over, there’s only one man who used to be here always, Jake my best buddy. I wonder if he is still in town, maybe he will be the only person I will recognize.

I’m about to knock on the door when it suddenly opened and I am welcomed with the warmest hug in the whole wide world. “I missed you so much Joshua!”

“Mom, dad! I missed you so much too!” I can’t hide my happiness seeing them again.

“We have a lot to talk about”, dad said and he started carrying my things.

“No dad, let me take that to my room, I’m a big boy now”, I said to him.

“Oh boy! I know, but you’re still my little man!” he said proudly.

“Go to your room I am cooking your favorite food, I’ll call you when it is ready”, mom said patting my back. My favorite food, meaning it is a pasta night with garlic bread. I love mom’s version of it.

I headed to my room smiling from ear to ear, when I opened my door I found out it is cleaned and the things haven’t been touched. I am amazed how my parents always clean my place. My guitar is still in the place where I left it the last time. I walked and grab it and play a few chords. I think I needed to buy new strings for that.

I lay down on my bed for a while, I didn’t bother to change my clothes, too tired from driving I guess I should take a little rest.

Tomorrow I'll start with this new life, I wonder what kind of adventure it is there for me.
