A Poem by cognitivetatum
"

I wrote this poem very recently, about someone I love dearly who is slowly destroying their soul and body through Heroin. This poem was written with painful ease as it came directly from my heart.

"
Strange it was that all this time,
Growing shadows danced in place.
More I remember, hurt than kind,
But still my heart embraced.

Fading smile, taken by strands
tangled up your mind
Fatality molded by your hands
My heart too, you would bind

I knew the measures, the slipping time
You knew what points to hide
And then the demons came to light
Your soul left leaking by.

Pinned up and drowning in your fix
The devil linked his chain
Your feet were bound, no fight to steal
No more lovers in the rain.

Can I keep you Alive?
Kill parts of me for your fare?
This heavy heart is hoping but
my mind is too aware.

I saw a man long time ago
he had a light within
Still my feet will not be linked
and taken with YOUR sin.

Shame is mine, that I stuck by
against my better sense
Dreaming bind, has made you blind
No reasons for defense

Fade away, and I'll go away
What else more can I do?
You gave up quick, and I gave way
Buried quickly in your tomb.

The prick and fill you told me once
was a dream you had to chase
And after time you had no will
to loose the heavy taste

I saw you just the other day
No trace of you stood there
A mindless, withered - drone is left
and nothing to compare.

The dream you chased so foolishly
has eaten up your soul
The man I loved isnt anywhere
You're a fly pinned to the wall.

"Fatality molded by your hands
My heart too, you would bind" amazing word choice. Addiction takes a piece of everyone involved. It drains both the user and their loved ones physically, emotionally and mentally. I can so relate to this piece.
You know what I love about this piece, it's like a conversation between your mind and your conscience. Mind telling you to be wary about the rough sea's ahead in the tsunami that is addiction. While your conscience doesn't want to abandon ship (friend) even if you have to go down with it.
"The prick and fill you told me once
was a dream you had to chase
And after time you had no will
to loose the heavy taste' one of the most creative ways I've seen describing the hunger for the needle.
Sometimes letting go is the best way, although it might not be the easiest contrary to belief.
I love your writing style. Favorited. Please upload more of your work on here if you have any. Have an awesome 2013. Kee.

That was exactly the battle I had. A battle of my better sense, mind, heart, emotion, conscience.

This really tells it like it is, everyone is affected. I've lost friends to drug overdoses, good people that fell into this massive web, never to free themselves. Every line is precise and breaths on it's own. I particularly like this one stanza...sums it up.

'The prick and fill you told me once

And after time you had no will
to loose the heavy taste'

Nicely pen'd.
