It was the spring

waiting for summer

to knock

when we got the call

out of the blue sky

it dropped

like a million tiny bombs

into our ears, into out hearts

she had breast cancer

what? time to assimilate

the information

grasping for some response

time moved slowly

as minutes made hours

and hours made days

until that day

breasts were cut away

and time to heal

in that long voyage

that made day into night

what to say

how to feel

when nothing is

good enough, nothing

can make up

for losing that part

This is so powerful and so well penned. A very good friend of mine went through that loss. Fortunately she has done well, and I still get to have my friend, but I wonder how much losing that part may still hurt. This is a difficult topic, and you have addressed it so well.

What a devastating call to receive.

I thought the first 8 lines were knockout lines.
