Ten Thousand Worlds

Ten Thousand Worlds

A Poem by DoormanDan
"

In loving memory of my birth Dad

"

Ten Thousand Worlds

The arctic wind is colder than ever before

Without your presence here to keep me warm

You and I are now separated by ten thousand worlds

That distance has ravaged my core with roaring sandstorms

Sadness wrapped her cloak around my heart

As they lowered you down into the dark

If only I could have seen you one last time

If only I had the chance to say goodbye

Though you’re now on the other side of the divide

You’ll always be right here by my side

There’s nothing I wouldn’t give to see your face again

But I know that you’ll be waiting for me at the end

Your memory I will never forget

I love You Dad.  Rest in Peace

My birth dad died a few years ago from Lung Cancer. I hadn't seen him in many years, and didn't get the chance to say goodbye. This is dedicated to him.

This is a heart felt piece Dan and a nice tribute to your Dad. I lost my Dad to cancer when I was only 22. I too think about the times we could have had and its been 27 years. I needed him many times over the years but had to do it in my own. Well done here Dan as I connected to this piece.

This poem really hit home for me. My dad also has cancer, I may not be a quote on quote "daddy's girl" like my family wants me to be, but it is still painful to know your loves ones life's hang in the balance. I'm sorry to hear about your father. This poem is a wonderful dedication to his memory.

A beautiful memorial to your father, nicely penned ... I have lost my dad to, and that sense of loss does not go away any time soon, if ever ... Great poem ...

you're very welcome, my pleasure :)
I'm sorry for your loss, when tragedy strikes poets bleed onto paper, I admire your courage to share your sorrow with the rest of us. Love is easy to share with others, it feels great to shout it from the rooftops, but heartbreak unfortunately is much more difficult to expel.. Your piece was beautiful, I could feel your emotion even here, an unknown amount of miles away, and I like the soothing color and the emphasis that the change in size added... Normally I don't go for rhyming poetry but these aren't exact rhymes and they don't feel forced, so I quite enjoyed it... I'm sure your father would be proud, your writing is stunning, it was a perfect tribute to him, thank you for sharing~

No trouble at all. :)
This is touching piece, and great tribute to your father. I imagine each line was a pleasure and hard to write. Great memories mixed with great sadness. It's never easy to lose a love one. The one piece of solace we can take is we 'know' its not the last time we'll see them, and we'll never stop feeling their presence in every aspect of our lives.
