First Step To Forever

This is the first poem I've wrote in a while, it's a different theme to my others so i hope you enjoy it.

There was a time when I thought to myself,

I wasn't who I was supposed to be,
But then I remembered I am who I am,
And I could be whoever I want to be.

I could be in a film,
by being a good actor,
I could be a hard working farmer,
Riding around in a rusty old tractor,
I could get up on a stage,
And sing along to this song,
But no matter who i become,
This world is where i belong.

People try and bring you down,
They try to tell you what you can't be,
But what i want to say is,
Just you watch me.

Cause i could be a scientist,
I could find the cure for cancer,
I could go in the show business,
And be a male dancer,
I could sky dive from the rooftops,
And feel the wind on my face,
But no matter what i do,
This world is my place.

If somebody says you can't do something,
Just do your best to prove them wrong,
Because life is short,
But the journey is long,
And the journey is the destination,
And we will travel this road together,
And we will take the first step,
The first step to forever.

I love the motivation in this poem and it made me smile. People can be whoever they want to be, no matter what anyone tells them. If they listen to what other people tell them, they are only being set up for failure and despair. They should know that it's okay to have dreams and goals for themselves and to one day follow through with them. Small dreams can often end up one in big places...

I really liked this! I liked the message behind it about never giving up on what you aspire to do. There were a few spots where I thought the flow could be a slight bit smoother such as this section..
"I could be in a film,
by being a good actor,
I could be a hard working farmer,
Riding around in a rusty old tractor,"
I just felt that the flow wasn't quite as smooth as the rest of your piece right in this section. i loved the wording, but perhaps you could word it a bit different to make your flow match the rest of the piece.
Overall it was a great poem and an enjoyable read. Well done!
