(My Heart Beats) For You

(My Heart Beats) For You

A Poem by Not here

They swallow Darkness with every pill.
When the Sun sets, they fight the will
to grab a knife and find the Thrill
that comes and goes with every Kill.
And every drop of Blood they spill
is another drop-off down the Hill.
Because every Cut refills until
they stop and pop a Sleeping pill.

What they don't realize, as they sit alone,
is every knife stabs into skin, their own.

They wear their Hoods up on their Heads so proud and tall,
pants sagged Low to the ground as they lean against a Wall.
And the People passing by, they just Stare at them all
as against the Wall they lean and they shout a Mean call.
Behind them on the Bricks are Words that they daily scrawl.
Big, colorful Letters; they're the Artists that never fall.
Read in between the Lines and you'll see Pain not so small
because the Load they carry is greater than any of Us haul.

What they don't see there, leaning against the bricks,
is that pain and grief can't be hidden by wordplay or tricks.

And She's just a young girl, never been into bad Things.
She certainly doesn't deserve the Pain her Life brings.
She expresses it through Music, 'cause she learned to play the Strings.
So she keeps a joyful Spirit while they walk around like Kings.
Even though she's Falling apart, she's floating high on her Wings.
Walking around with a Guitar, her beautiful Voice sings:

It's really okay to have feelings, even if they make you cry.
The first step on the road to healing is decide you don't wanna die.
And though you'll never understand me, I promise that it's true.
You've fallen down; I'll lend you a hand. See, my heart beats for you.

You are welcome my friend.
This is a really touching poem. It has the two perspectives there. What you see and say and what you see but you don't say about "Those People". And to be honest, this poem really made me all teary-eyed. Great Work Dante.. As always. Thanks for sharing. :)

This is not long but yet it carries a story not many will understand unless they've felt this way. I love poems like this one, they are like a helping hand reaching out for those in need of one, for those who haven't been told this words. Great job! Thanks for sharing.

no problem :) thank you even more for reading. im glad you enjoyed it
This is a dark and gritty write. you don't sugar coat the truth and what would be the point? This is about looking past the reality and grabbing life and happiness by the throat. Not everyone learns to express themselves like society thinks they should. Every morning I look at the train cars on the overpass to see what artist has left their soul there. Finding a way to release all the negative, is much harder than expressing the moments of joy.
To me this is powerful, because sometimes other people crying for you is the only way to acknowledge how bad your life really is. And sometimes its the catalyst to tears that are buried so deep, you didn't even know that they were there. That is a gift.
