Lovers Island

Lovers Island

A Poem by Davie A
"

A walk to Lovers Island Llanddwyn in Anglesey North Wales with someone special

"

Shrouded in Celtic folklore, Llanddwyn weaves her magic spell,

In delicious isolation, where ancient myths and legends dwell.

Its primeval rocks like jagged teeth, once cast from Vulcan's fire,

A place of timeless beauty, fulfilling every heart's desire

Against a rugged mountain stage, spirited Skylarks rise and fall,

Lifting hearts and spirits, with their clear and joyous call.

A moth of black and cinnabar floats, when startled from the grass,

The delicate flowers of sea pinks, swaying gently as we pass.

Down the rocks and to the sea, where the waters chill my hands,

Driftwood carved by wind and waves, lies littered on the sands.

Above, a whitewashed lighthouse towers, worn by years of ocean spray

A welcome sight for sailors to keep them safely on their way

We wander back along the path, a stone cross stands tall with reverence

Its importance lost in ages past, but still emits a ghostly presence.

A ruined stone chapel, now neglected, can only hint at ancient glory,

Holding centuries of sights and sounds and many a lovers' story.

We stand on lover’s island, like many lovers have stood before

There I kiss the sweetest woman, the one I love, the one I adore

Of all the wonders I’ve beheld, loves beauty can still astound

The essence of my soul is here, where echoes of love resound
