Bloody Dam

Bloody Dam

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Fire in the hole

translates to too much blood

in the nose

that a Kleenex is too soft to handle.

A paper dam will only hold

a raging river for a microsecond.

The hounds of hell are blood thisty

and the trail you are leaving

is surely wetting their appetite

that will leave you as pale as the moon

they faithfully howl at.

That lunar smile will shine

upon your headstone

mocking your epitaph,

“I burned too many bridges

without learning to walk on water.”

Ouch! I wouldn't want to be the muse for this!
"Fire in the hole
translates to too much blood

that a Kleenex is too soft to handle"
this made me think of someone sniffing to many drugs, being plagued by the demons of addiction and burning the bridges of loved ones until the day their addiction kills them. I could of course be wrong but that is what came to mind when I read this. Thanks for sharing.

Ahhhh someone caught on to what I was referring too... nicely done. Thank you.
You make several great points in this emotionally charged poem, Dale, not the least of which is to always keep your options open. And those bloodhound, constantly sniffin', always nippin' at you heels. You'd better have a bridge or two left standin' to cross over, so you can make your escape, should you need to!

Great work...

Thank you kindly sir.
Great poem- eerie and dark. I especially liked these lines:

“I burned too many bridges

without learning to walk on water.”

There is a saying, build a boat before you burn a bridge.

If I might make one tiny comment, I think the correct spelling is to whet their appetite or whetting their appetite. ; 0

You are welcome Dale:)
nice metaphor using the blood nose to describe how we burn bridges..lose too much blood of relationships and leave them pale and squandered...

nicely done, Dale.
